Some people end up with only their lower front teeth and a partial denture that does not fit well. Using 2 implants the partial denture can be stabilized.
The lower partial denture
A lower partial denture will often function well as long as you have back teeth to support it.
If you loose these back teeth (as this patient did) then the partial denture is referred to as being “free-ended”. It rests or is supported by the gums and does not offer a stable base for chewing. (image 1)
In this case if you have adequate bone (confirmed by clinical and x-ray examination) you can have two implants placed at the back of your lower jaw. (image 2)
Using either magnetic or mechanical attachments (ball & socket), one part on top of the implant and the other embedded in the base of the partial denture, it becomes implant supported at the back, restoring function. (image 3)
Home-care around the implants is quite easy – we instruct you how to do this.
